Spend educational hours at the cinema!

Pedagogically valuable films regularly make it into our programme, which can be integrated excellently into the school curriculum or can offer valuable education even without this framework. In the following list you will find current and upcoming films that are particularly suitable for student screenings. Of course, it is possible for all film titles to have a student screening at special conditions.

School screenings are to be understood as an educational event, i.e. the performances are usually played without an intermission and without consumption.

Release date: 05 March 2026

By Ilker Çatak, with Enis Köstepen, Ayda Meryem Çatak und Ilker Çatak.

Derya and Aziz are a celebrated artist couple: Aziz is a socially engaged dramaturge and lecturer in theater studies, Derya is the star of his plays. Together with their fourteen-year-old daughter Ezgi, they lead a fulfilling life in Ankara—until their open criticism of the government brings them to the attention of the state apparatus. Overnight, both lose their jobs; the police search their apartment and question their neighbors. The family flees to Istanbul, where they temporarily stay with Aziz's mother. But Ezgi struggles to fit in at her new school, and while Aziz responds to the pressure with increased resistance, Derya searches for a way out that will give her more freedom again. Gradually, the distance between them grows until their future as a family is ultimately at stake.

Following “The Teacher's Room,” Oscar®-nominated German director Ilker Çatak once again presents a controversial masterpiece. The film centers on a couple who must choose between their ideals and conformity in the face of a corrupt authoritarian regime. Impressively carried by Turkish acting stars Özgü Namal and Tansu Biçer, “Yellow Letters” is a gripping drama about courage and power that focuses on the major socio-political issues of our time.

NOUVELLE VAGUE

Release date: 12 March 2026

By Richard Linklater, with Guillaume Marbeck, Zoey Deutch, Aubry Dullin, Adrien Rouyard, Antoine Besson, Jodie Ruth-Forest.

NOUVELLE VAGUE is Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater’s love letter to the spellbinding magic of French cinema, reimagining the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s revolutionary BREATHLESS (À BOUT DE SOUFFLE), which ultimately cemented Godard as a pioneer of the French New Wave. Capturing the youthful dynamism and creative chaos at the heart of one of the world’s most beloved and influential movies, Nouvelle Vague transports us to the streets of 1959 Paris for an ode to the power of cinema to transform our lives.

TURNER AND CONSTABLE

TURNER AND CONSTABLE

Release date: 12 March 2026

By David Bickerstaff.

Two of Britain’s greatest painters, J.M.W. Turner and John Constable were also the greatest of rivals. Born within a year of each other, both used landscape painting to reflect the changing world around them. Tate Britain is bringing these two greats together for a groundbreaking exhibition, in London from November 2025 to April 2026, and Exhibition on Screen once again has exclusive and privileged access to bring their extraordinary art and remarkable stories to the big screen in February so that you can enjoy both film and exhibition together. Discover unexpected sides to both artists with intimate views of sketchbooks and personal items and insights from leading experts.

Turner’s blazing sunsets and sublime scenes from his travels and Constable’s idealised depictions of beloved places from home whipped the public of the time into a frenzy of enthusiasm. Constable represents the very best of the old school of realism and pastoral nostalgia; Turner, an exciting new way of depicting emotion and dreamlike impressions. Critics compared their starkly different styles to a clash of ‘fire and water’. Don’t miss this opportunity to see these greats side-by-side, as they so often were in life, on the big screen for the first time.
