DER TOD IST EIN ARSCHLOCH

By Michael Schwarz, with Eric Wrede, Maria Schuster, Katja Seydel.

In *Death Is a Jerk*, bestselling author Eric Wrede—known as Germany’s most unconventional undertaker—and his team take us on a journey to the edge of life that is as touching as it is brutally honest. Set against the backdrop of crematoriums, living rooms filled with memories, and conversations with the bereaved, the film doesn’t reverently shake hands with death; instead, it laughs defiantly in its face. With wit, warmth, and deep empathy, the film asks: Why do we so consistently push the inevitable aside—and what would happen if we finally let death into our lives? Eric Wrede opens doors to a new way of dealing with farewells, pain, and memory—at times provocative, at times profound, but always human. Death Is a Jerk is not a dry documentary, but a courageous portrait of dying in our society—and a plea to finally start living fully again. Radically honest. Refreshingly different. And damn necessary.
