Time stands still on Tristan da Cunha; newcomers rarely find their way here. The island is accessible only by sea, after a voyage of more than a week. It is a world of its own—far away from everything.
Over the years, Dr. Loran Bonnardot has repeatedly sought refuge here, and the residents have become his second family. Now he has decided to move to Tristan. But it’s not that simple: first, the Island Council must decide whether to accept him. Loran pitches in to shear the sheep, befriends a penguin, and slowly finds his place. But the closer he gets to his goal, the more the line between dream and reality blurs. Strange things are happening on this enchanted volcano far beyond the horizon…
