On September 2, 1998, the crash of Swissair Flight 111 off the coast of Halifax changed many people’s lives forever. But 111 - ECHOES FROM HALIFAX does not recount the disaster itself—rather, it explores its aftermath. The film follows people in different countries whose fates are intertwined by the accident. Family members struggle to find certainty about their loved ones, rescuers try to offer comfort, and the residents of the Canadian coast are confronted with the traces of the tragedy. As time passes and questions remain unanswered, the film shows how grief brings people together, changes relationships, and gives rise to new perspectives.
