England, circa 1800: Following the death of their father, the two sisters, Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, are forced to leave their home and face an uncertain future. The level-headed Elinor keeps her feelings for Edward Ferrars a secret, as a future together seems hopeless due to social and family obstacles. The younger Marianne, on the other hand, openly follows her heart and falls head over heels in love with the charismatic John Willoughby. Caught between hope, disappointment, and the constraints of their time, both sisters must find their own path and realize that neither cold reason nor passionate feelings alone lead to happiness.
