Amanda and her stepfather Martin are grappling with a moral dilemma that is driving a wedge between them. Has Amanda’s mother, Leslie—who suffers from advanced dementia—lost the ability to make important decisions in her own best interest? If so, who takes on that responsibility instead—her spouse, her biological child, or an institution? Amanda and Martin are faced with increasingly difficult decisions that eventually become too much for them to handle.
